Privacy in the KeenAsCars beta
This is a hosted, invited New Zealand beta. Real sellers may advertise vehicles. This notice describes what the current service does; the operator’s formal legal identity and final privacy policy still need confirmation before a wider launch.
Information we collect
Accounts contain your name, email address, a password hash, account role and session records. A listing may include vehicle details, registration and VIN, photographs, seller descriptions, issue disclosures, uploaded repair documents and, for dealers, a Consumer Information Notice. We also store enquiries, favourites, buyer preferences, dealer applications, moderation decisions, privacy requests and auction expressions of interest.
Who sees it
Published adverts, seller names, descriptions, photos and disclosure summaries are public. Photos can reveal a number plate or other personal details, so check them before uploading. We do not show the registration or VIN from the listing fields to anonymous visitors, but they may appear in your photos. Approved dealers can view trade listings. Repair evidence files are available to the seller and moderators; public reports show the document-review status, not the file. Dealer Consumer Information Notices are publicly downloadable once the advert is published.
How we use it
We use this information to run the marketplace, display adverts, enable enquiries, screen dealer applications, review safety reports and handle account and privacy requests. The website and Python API run on Render; marketplace data is held in Turso. These cloud services may process data outside New Zealand. We do not sell your personal information.
AI choice
AI processing is unavailable on this free hosted beta. Basic listings use local, source-linked issue matching and human moderation; no listing photos or details are sent to an AI model by this service. Proposed paid AI features will require a separate opt-in and updated notice before activation. A source-linked question or photo never proves a fault or repair.
Keeping and correcting data
Listings and account records remain until deleted or a request is handled; there is not yet automatic full-account deletion. Published information can be copied by viewers while it is live. We may need to retain limited records for disputes, fraud prevention or legal obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion below. A moderator reviews requests manually; submitting the form does not immediately remove data. Do not include passwords, payment details or identity documents in the message.
